Downtown Sarasota Wireless Network
If that isn't reason enough, Sarasota
County and 82 Degrees Tech just launched "Downtown
Unplugged", a free wireless Internet access service! Tourists,
Residents and Business people can now access the Internet in Downtown
Sarasota with a wireless-enabled laptop.
These people will be able to
look up your business while eating lunch next door or relaxing in the
park! Will they find your web site? Or will they find your competitor's
web site?
The wireless system, dubbed “Downtown Unplugged,” allows
users with wireless-capable laptop computers to access the Internet at no
charge throughout much of downtown, from Washington Boulevard west to Bird
Key. Previously, a small-scale pilot project with less advanced technology
allowed wireless Internet access just in Selby Five Points Park and the
Selby Public Library.
Instructions for using “Downtown Unplugged”
Internet access:
- Use your wireless-capable computer to scan for
wireless networks in the downtown area.
